REAL BRIDES : Karen Johnson

Q1: Which store did you visit and purchase your dress from? (Please describe your experience in a few words).
Liverpool – it was a really special day. Lucy made my Mum and I feel very relaxed, and we had a ball trying on almost every dress in the shop! We weren’t rushed at all which was nice. The dressing room is so charming with an enormous ornate mirror – you really feel like a princess.

Q2: Which designer/style did you go for and what was the main reason for it being your winner?
I chose a Charlie Brear 2-piece with a Jesus Piero belt. I loved the uniqueness of being able to create our own style, and chose a simple but elegant combination that I think best reflected my personality, and it made me feel confident and amazing.

Q3 : Did you have any accessories from us and how did you feel in your outfit on the big day?
I chose a vintage-style hair accessory from Kate Hill, with marquis stones to match my engagement ring. I am not a veil person and felt this simple-but-wow accessory really finished off the look. On the day, I truly felt a million dollars! I also felt really comfortable due to the effortless style of the day, whilst was important because I was on the dance floor a lot!
Q4 : Did you have bridesmaids? If so how many and what did they wear?
I had 5 bridesmaids and an flower girl. The bridesmaids wore a mint-green cold shoulder boho-style dress, with embellished waistbands – which really complemented my own dress. The flower girl wore an ivory dress accessorised with mint green flowers over one shoulder, to match the bridesmaids.

Q5 : Did you visit many other bridal shops before ordering your dress with us ?
I visited 2 other shops

Q6 : What three bits of advice would you give any prospective bride?
1) Try on as many dresses as possible, and enjoy every second of it – such a special part of the journey, and you only do it once! But make sure you buy for somewhere who you trust, and makes you feel special
2) Don’t get lost in the detail of the planning! Focus your efforts on the big things that you and your guests will remember like venue, food, music etc. No one is going to remember that table decoration you either spent a fortune on or hours painstakingly making – save yourself the stress and keep it simple!
3) Savour every moment of the day – make sure you take moments to look around you and take it all in. It goes like a flash, but if you do that, then the memories will still keep giving you joy forever.

Q7 : Did everything go to plan on your big day? If so/not tell us how or why?
Mostly! The food and drink were not what we’d asked for – although they were still really nice, and the guests were none the wiser, so I am really glad we didn’t get too hung up on it or let it affect the day.

Q8 : Any other thoughts ?
It’s the most special time of your life – from the moment you get engaged ┬áright through the celebrations. Make the most of it and enjoy every second!
