Q1: Which store did you visit and purchase your dress from? (Please describe your experience in a few words).
I purchased my dress from the Liverpool studio, with help from the lovely Lucy. My experience was perfect – firstly the studio is so beautiful, and I felt at ease there straight away – the ‘by appointment only’ service makes you feel special and not rushed in any way. The selection of dreamy dresses was plentiful and easy to browse without being overwhelmed by bulging rows of dresses I had seen in other bridal stores. What really made my experience however, was your bridal stylist Lucy – Lucy was friendly and full of excellent advice and styling tips, she made me feel completely comfortable on each visit and I personally felt that she just totally ‘got’ me and the look I wanted. I highly recommend the White Closet to any stylish brides to be!
Q2: Which designer/style did you go for and what was the main reason for it being your winner?
I chose a simple 70’s style Jesus Peiro dress. It was not at all what I thought I would go for however the beautiful fabric and floaty sleeves just caught my eye as I browsed the rails. As soon as I put it on I realised it was perfect for me – it completely suited my style and personality and most importantly I felt comfortable in it, I didn’t want to try any other dresses after that. All the scattered style ideas I had previously had became a clear vision once I had chosen this dress.
Q3 : Did you have any accessories from us and how did you feel in your outfit on the big day?
I also purchased a Helen Martin cathedral length tulle veil from you and a silk sash from your recommended seamstress, after months of searching for the perfect belt the sash looked just right. On the day I felt beautiful in my dress and I was so comfortable, I danced the night away with no problems at all!
Q4 : Did you have bridesmaids? If so how many and what did they wear?
I had six gorgeous bridesmaids (six?! Yes I know, its a bit ridiculous!) they wore dove-grey full length dresses from ASOS with the most beautiful bright wildflower crowns from our lovely florist Angela Adlard.
Q5 : Did you visit many other bridal shops before ordering your dress with us ?
I found my dress on our first and only shopping day, we visited two other shops before the White Closet.
1. Set a realistic budget at the start, then choose venue, dress, etc. around this budget so that you don’t fall in love with something you can’t have.
2. Don’t be afraid to be different! Stamp your personalities on your day and make it a reflection of all the things you both love. The biggest compliment I got was that our wedding was “just so us”.
3. Remember what it’s all about – marrying the other half of you and the start of your forever with them – keep this in your head and when things get a bit stressy, just remember all that actually matters on the day is that you two get married!
Q7 : Did everything go to plan on your big day? If so/not tell us how or why?
There were a few hiccups but nothing major, it all adds to it! A friend had handmade my garter and on the morning of the wedding my sister couldn’t find it anywhere, the bridesmaids secretly searched for it for hours before discovering I had left in in my house over half an hour away (oops). Luckily my husband was getting ready there and one of the groomsmen dropped it off just in time. I had another mishap when getting into my dress realising I had mistakenly sent the bag containing my bridal underwear to the hotel we would be staying in that night and had to wear a really ordinary pair of pants instead! We also ended up being over half an hour late for the church – which is unheard of for me, I hate lateness! But all is well that ends well and nothing ruined our day.
In terms of suppliers, I highly recommend our gorgeous photographer Sally T: http://www.sallytphoto.com/
Thanks to Sally our wedding was featured on the Love My Dress blog, which was very exciting!
Our florist was Angela Adlard, who created the most beautiful seasonal wildflower arrangements and flower crowns with little direction from me other than i wanted ‘colourful’ and ‘messy': http://www.angelaadlardfloristry.co.uk/
Our venue was Oh Me Oh My on Liverpool’s waterfront. The team there were amazing, especially our wedding coordinator Katie.: https://ohmeohmyliverpool.co.uk/
My hair & makeup was by the sister dream team Bethan (hair) and Georgia (makeup) Steers from B the Bride, they are such lovely talented girls:
